Sri Lanka is facing a nationwide weather emergency as torrential rains, flooding and landslides have killed over 80 and displaced over four thousands families by 28th November 2025. Authorities are warning even more extreme weather in the hours ahead. We remain in solidarity with all in Sri Lanka and southeast Asia. Sri Lanka in Crisis as Nationwide Catastrophic Flooding, Landslides and Extreme Weather highest in the history.

Landslides and floods triggered by heavy rain have caused Catastrophic Situation nationwide in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is facing a nationwide weather emergency as torrential rains, flooding and landslides have killed over 80 and displaced over four thousands families by 28th November 202. Entire communities in Badulla and Nuwara Eliya have been engulfed by mudslides, while roads, railways and bridges have been blocked by swollen rivers and fallen debris. Over 17 districts seriously damaged and emergency crews are struggling to reach cut-off areas. Authorities have shut down government offices and schools, as a low-pressure system off the southeast coast continues to intensify, threatening even more extreme weather in the hours ahead.
